Why Spendimo never connects to your bank

Every bank-linked budgeting app asks for the keys to your financial life. We built the opposite.

Almost every budgeting app opens with the same request: link your bank account. It’s convenient. It’s also the single biggest privacy trade in consumer software — a running feed of everything you earn and spend, handed to a company you met four seconds ago.

Spendimo connects to no banks. Here’s what that means in practice.

What “no bank connection” buys you

Doesn’t typing things in get old?

Honestly: less than you’d think. Adding an expense takes about ten seconds, the app remembers your habits, and receipts can be scanned — on the device, never uploaded. What you lose in automation you gain in actually noticing what you spend, which is the entire point of tracking.

The receipt test

One question cuts through any privacy policy: where does the receipt photo go? In Spendimo, it goes nowhere. Scanning runs on Apple’s Vision engine on the phone itself, and the image is discarded after parsing. No server of ours has ever seen one.
